GHE manufacture high and low temperature resistant noise
reduction panels from composite materials for partially
encapsulating engine compartments. They are typically
situated between the engine compartment and the driver's
cabin of commercial vehicles.

The basic materials used to produce these heat deflecting and noise absorbing systems are basalt fibre wool and/or cotton and carbon fibre non-wovens which provide excellent thermal stability properties and which are resistant to:
  • low temperatures of up to 150°C and
  • high temperatures of up to 600°C

  • Example: A noise absorption panel will reduce the heat generated by a heavy truck engine running at full speed to just under 30° C at cabin floor level

Depending on the function SMC moulded by the one-shot process may also be used as a carrier material.

GHE utilises high-performance presses with forces of up to 10,000 kN. The press-moulding process itself is carried out at a temperature range up to 200°C.

The laminating press with its large surface area with a force of up to 4,000 kN has a draping table measuring 2 m x 2.8 m which enables us to enhance the surface appearance of this size of support material.

FUNCTIONS
They fulfil two important functions:
  • Absorption of annoying engine and gearbox
    noise to a great extent
  • Insulation of the driver's cabin from heat
transmitted when the engine is running
